The Chevy Silverado has been one of the most popular pickups on the road since it was introduced in 1999. For 2024, this favorite received a few upgrades that are sure to make it even more respected.

Quick History of the Silverado 1500

Chevrolet debuted its first pickup in 1930, but it wasn’t called the Silverado until model year 1999. The name had previously been used as a trim level for Chevy C/K pickups, as well as the Suburban and Tahoe.

The Silverado 1500 has always offered multiple bed lengths, body configurations, and engines. All of these options have made it a customer favorite for the last 25 years. But it has also been a vehicle for innovation in the pickup truck space. In 1999, the first run of Silverados introduced a manufacturing process called hydroforming, which ensured the frame was lightweight, yet strong. The Silverado also introduced the first hybrid pickup way back in 2004!

In 2024, Chevrolet is still pushing the limits with the Silverado by adding features that up the convenience and safety factors.

Chevy Silverado Design Evolution

With an updated front grille, ultra-modern headlight design, and a smoother build, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 is bold and dynamic. The redesign is more than superficial, though. These upgrades also improve fuel economy and aerodynamics. It’s a show-stopping blend of modern aesthetics and the Silverado’s signature rugged look.

The Silverado lineup consists of nine trims: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, and High Country. It starts at $36,800.

Other exterior features include:

  • A Multi-Flex tailgate, which offers six different functions to help you load, unload, and access the bed.
  • The most functional pick-up truck bed available, featuring best-in-class cargo volume up to 89.1 cubic feet and 12 tie downs. Whatever you need to haul, the Silverado 1500 can handle it.
  • A 8-camera system with up to 14 available views to make backup up, towing, and parking easier than ever. (Only available on Silverado LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2 and High Country.)
  • Two new body color choices: Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Slate Gray Metallic.
  • A Blackout Package, available on Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss and ZR2 trims.
  • Midnight Edition is now available on the High Country edition.
